SMCK ON REEL, the video festival inspired by jewelry and wearable art, celebrates its third edition at Schmuck Munich. Next to contemporary narratives on jewelry's archaic heritage, the video screenings of SMCK ON REEL 2024 / MAGIC on 1 + 2 March 2024 in Munich present short documentaries on the cultural and social meaning of jewelry art, emphasizing its impact on political communication.

The video program includes five sections: Magic / Greetings from Ukraine / Danner Talk & Danner Prize winners / Political Jewelry / Experts Talk.

Greetings From Ukraine

Jewelry can be a symbol of national independence. In the documentary film Greetings from Ukraine, Stanislav Drokin, Yuri Plehanov, and the GuniaProject team show how an ornament inspires people to fight for freedom and dignity two years after Russia's invasion in February 2022.

Danner Talk & Danner Prize winners

The prestigious Bavarian institution and major contemporary jewelry art collector introduces craft and design lovers to the principles and rules of awarding excellency, and explains its mission.

Experts talk

Jewelry, art and fashion VIPS reveal the secrets of jewelry creation, and advice contemporary jewelry artists how to increase their creative potential and broaden their influence on the sector.

Political jewelry

Jewelry artists talk about their work that reflects issues such as The horror of totalitarianism - Art as sacrifice - Commemorating the victims of a genocide - Manipulation and state control - Activism as an artist's duty.
