LR: You’re interested in ancient—but li- ving—cultures such as the Greek, Chinese, etc. What is their impact on your maker’s practice and way of thinking?
AW: Huge. Sometimes it’s quite diffcult to untangle this, as I spend a lot of time immer- sing myself in the visuals and details of other cultures without planning how to commu- nicate through making. The elements of in- terest come out unconsciously.
LR: HowareyoucopingwithCOVID-19?
AW: I’m struggling to make at the moment, partly because I’m unable to go to my work- shop, which is shared with other makers and artists. Also, shows and exhibitions have been cancelled. I think creative people and industries adapt particularly well to the physical dynamics of change, which can sti- mulate more creativity, problem-solving, and experimentation.
LR: Are you thinking of other ways to pro- mote your jewellery?
AW: I intend to develop my online presence. Regarding art, jewellery, clothes, and e- commerce, I think there are particular pro- blems because work needs to be observed and tried on, which is more diffcult to facili- tate, but just another solvable problem.
